Archer is a young male whose personality is slowly starting to shine through as he learns the ins and outs of being a "family pet"

He has been able to gain confidence by following the lead of the other dogs in his foster home. He is starting to play with the other dogs and had taken a liking to the stuffies as he finds them around the house.  He is a very sweet and curious boy who loves to cuddle and accepts all ear rubs! He walks well on a leash and is happy to be out and see other dogs.

Archer is still learning that peeing is done outside not in, so his belly band is on most of the time (for now). He is not food motivated but is happy to eat when he's fed. He's very smart and understands the command of "back up" and “go lay down”. He is still a puppy at heart and his youthful energy is starting to shine as he gains more confidence every day. He loves to play tug-of-war or grab a shoe and take it to is bed. He sleeps on a dog bed at night and he’s good until morning to get outside.

Archer is quiet in the house and loves people and is great with kids. He does not appear to have a high prey drive but would do well with another dog at home to help lead him as he navigates his new life. He has done well staying at home with his foster brother and sister, is crated during the day. Archer is a curious young dog and would definitely benefit from living with an active family who incorporates him into their busy life.

Baby is gentle, loving and sensitive. She likes to be around her foster family and will cuddle up on the bed or couch with them. Baby sleeps on a dog bed at night beside her foster parents bed but she would prefer to be in the bed with them! During the day she is good in her crate but needs to be let outside to do her business a couple times before being left for any length of time to prevent accidents. She will enter easily when given a treat. While in her crate she likes to have her toy and bone. She enjoys having a frozen Kong to work on when in her crate for a few hours.

Baby gets along with her foster families big dog, but doesn’t seem interested in playing with him. She would rather get rubs from the people. She likes her toys and food and will let other dogs know they are hers with a growl or bark. She has the confidence to be an only dog.  Baby walks well on a leash and rarely pulls.  She responds well to encouragement and praise when trying new things like the stairs or getting in and out of the car. She rides well in a car and will lay down and relax. She would be the perfect companion for someone with a quiet household and a flexible schedule.

Baby is being fostered in St. Albert, Alberta.

Casey is a young male whose personality is starting to shine through as he gains more confidence.

Although Casey started out as extremely shy and unsure, he has been able to gain confidence by following the lead of the other dogs in his foster home. He loves to run zoomies in the yard and is starting to play with the other dogs.  He is a very sweet and curious boy who loves to cuddle and accepts all ear rubs! Casey is great on walks in the park, he tends to walk right beside you, not tugging at the leash and is happy to see other dogs but doesn’t get overly excited.

Casey has not had any accidents in his foster home but he is very food motivated and is a counter-surfer.  As soon as you tell him “no”, he backs up right away and understands the command of “go lay down”. He is still a puppy at heart and his youthful energy is starting to shine as he gains more confidence every day. He loves to drag out a blanket once in a while from the bedroom and play tug-o-war with it or throw around his stuffy to play. He sleeps on a dog bed at night and doesn’t wander, he’s good until morning to get outside.

Casey loves people and is great with kids. He does not appear to have a high prey drive but would do better with another dog at home to help lead him as he navigates his new life. He does show signs of separation anxiety but he has done well staying at home with his foster brother and sister for a few hours at a time and just finds a comfy bed to sleep on during the day. Casey is an energetic and curious young dog and would definitely benefit from living with an active family who incorporates him into their busy life.

Fuzzy is a sweet young gal.

Although she is starting to understand retirement a bit better, her kennel is her safe place and she will retreat to it when she feels overwhelmed.  Fuzzy has done well with all humans she has met - including young children. She is still learning about home life and stairs are still a mystery and just a little scary. She is trying hard to understand that not everything in the house is a toy that she can play with or chew on.  She also finds the smells on the kitchen counters interesting and will counter surf but responds quickly to "Get Down". Her house manners have been good, but she does take quite a long time to do her business outside and prefers to have the company of her folks out there with her while she finds just that right spot.

Fuzzy startles at new noises (trucks, cars) while on walks and will sometimes freeze when she hears them.  She will need a canine buddy in her home that she can look to for guidance as she navigates this new world. She seems to enjoy car rides but does not settle quickly, preferring to look out the windows to see where she is going

Herring is a sweet and curious girl.

She loves to snuggle and be with her people.  She has not done well when left alone so would do best in a home where there is minimum time left on her own.  She does loves toys and to play but also looks for her bed in the corner to head for when she get a little overwhelmed. She gets along wonderfully with medium and large dogs and has not been tested with cats or small dogs.

Herring walks fabulously on the leash,  with no pulling, and prefers to stay close to your side.  Her house manners are improving, but she does not ask to go out.  Her foster home lets her out frequently to prevent any accidents.  Herring would do best with a yard to play in - she does love to do zoomies.  She would be fine as an only dog or with other medium to large dogs in the home.

Live  is settling into retirement well.

He gets along well with the resident greyhound in his foster home and has been gentle and affectionate with the kids in the home as well. Live is very curious and inquisitive. He is playful and a bit rambunctious.  He does well  in his crate during the day while his foster parents are at work and has excellent house manners.  He has a tendency to counter surf and table surf as well as put his paws up on the counter but his foster family is working on helping him understand that this is not allowed. Live gets very excited when he encounters another dog on walks but does respond well to correction.

Rex is a very smart, loving and cuddly dog.

He listens well, loves his toys, and enjoys just hanging out.  He gets excited when his foster folks come home, and follows them everywhere.  He likes car rides, and walks well on the leash.  He can get excited when there are other dogs or rabbits around, but is easily distracted to continue the walk.  He whines in the kennel, but has done fine when left out withe his muzzle on.  Rex has quickly picked up basic commands like “leave it”, “let’s go”, “come”, & “go to your bed“.  He is getting better at asking to go outside.

He has a lot of energy and can get too excitable very quickly.  Not surprising based on his past experiences, he does have some resource guarding issues (toys, food & people), that his foster family is working on.  It’s coming along slowly, but he needs more training and lots of patience.  He is also learning to get along with the resident dogs.  He watches them play and occasionally tries to join in but would also thrive as an only dog. .

Saint is  a beautiful brindle female with lots of love to give - happy, playful, sensitive.

She’s showing more and more confidence everyday. Saint loves her humans as well as her foster greyhound brother.  She enjoys car rides, and is great on leash.  She has learned greyt house manners although she does love to hang around the kitchen just in case some food drops.   As she gains confidence in this new world of retirement, Saint is getting more playful and is starting to show interest in some of our Greyhound’s toys - especially squeaky ones.

Saint would prefer not to be crated and has done when left loose with a muzzle on when her foster folks are away.  She has excellent house manners and has not had any accidents in the house. She responds well to a firm NO. If it’s too loud she will sit and cower so needs her folks to be gentle and patietn with training.  She has already learned to sit and lie down on command. Saint would be best suited to a home where her humans can spend some time with her at the beginning to give her confidence and a home where folks are not gone for full work days. She certainly enjoys the company of the other dog in her foster home and would likely do best with a canine companion.

Saint is being fostered in Calgary, Alberta.

We call Theodore Teddy because he is as cuddly as a Teddy Bear!

He loves stuffies, and is very gentle with them. When he drops one he is quick to reprimand it with a little roo and retrieve it for himself. Teddy is the resident toy thief and wants whatever toy someone else has. He waits for the other dogs attention to waver a bit, then  grabs it, and returns it to his stash. He is happy to go out on any adventure but prefers to spend his day traveling from lap to lap looking for a cuddle. Teddy willing goes into a kennel for bedtime or if he has to be left alone. He is very food motivated and is quick to learn the rules of the house (outside for bathroom, no mooching at the table). He wants you to be happy with him. He likes doing silly zoomies in the yard shows his joy at his prancing by barking at himself.

Terry's  personality is starting to shine after a bit of a slow start. He was quite shy and nervous when he first arrived, but with a little time and patience he has settled in just fine. While he is not a clingy dog, he does like to get pets and give kisses, and then is usually found laying on his bed or in his crate.  He loves his walks, has good leash manners, and is starting to run and play in the yard with the resident foster.  He sleeps quietly in his crate for the night, until someone comes to let him out.  He has mastered the stairs and has no problem going up or down.

He is very food motivated and is still learning to stay off counters.  He is inquisitive, which can frequently find him taking things he shouldn't have. A spray bottle and a sharp no are usually enough to discourage him.

Terry is being fostered in Morinville, Alberta.

Trump is a happy, bouncy boy that loves nothing better than to cuddle with his folks.

This big guy has excellent dog manners and gets along very well with all the hounds in his foster home.  He is quite food motivated and still needs to be reminded that the counters are not a place for a hounds nose or paws.  He has had no accidents in his foster home and walks well on leash.   Trump crates well when his foster folks are away but he is not a big fan of being left alone for hours on end.  He would do best in a home where the time alone each day is not more than a couple of hours.  Because he is a big boy, he would also do best in a home with no small children.
